I’m excited to share details about the Athens Walking Tour!
For this Athens adventure, each guest covers their own tour and travel expenses. I’ve put together a detailed breakdown of all the costs to help you plan—please note that some items,
like taxis and meals, are approximate.
I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have! Feel free to email me anytime.
I hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity
to experience the magnificent city of Athens!

If possible, please let me know by February 15th
if you’d like to be part of the tour.
EXPENSES
Along with your hotel room (see below), your expenses include meals, taxis, tickets to archaeological sites and museums on the tour, and the fee for your private guide.
WHERE TO STAY
I recommend the Astor Hotel, a centrally located 4-star hotel.
Contact the hotel directly to make and pay for your room reservations.
The hotel can also arrange for a driver to meet you at the airport
upon arrival; the cost is about 50 euros, a bit less than a taxi.
For other transportation options to and from
the Astor Hotel and Athens airport, click here.
The Astor provides all the amenities—restaurant, café, fantastic breakfast
(included with your room), room service, daily maid service,
and a prime location for exploring.
The Walking Tour with Eleni begins and ends in the hotel lobby.
Feel free to make other lodging arrangements.
Just ensure you can arrive at the hotel
to meet the group at the scheduled times.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES AND MUSEUM TICKETS
Acropolis/Parthenon Site - €30
Acropolis Museum - €20
Ancient Agora - €12
National Museum - €12
NOTE: Tickets for May have not yet gone on sale. Most sites now
require pre-purchased tickets for timed entry.
I will let you know when and how to purchase your tickets
as soon as they are available.
DO NOT BUY TICKETS UNTIL THEN!
There are now lots of fake ticket sites.
TAXIS
For group travel during the tour, approximately €20.
Limit of four people per taxi. Athens does have Uber,
but taxis are still the main way to get around.
Taxi to and from the Astor Hotel to the Athens Airport: About €50
TOUR GUIDE FEE
Eleni Dapolo will be your tour guide on both Wednesday and Thursday.
She charges a flat fee of €400 per day for the entire group.
This amount will be divided by the number of people in the tour group.
Once I have confirmation from everyone interested in the tour,
I will let you know the cost per person.
Currently, about six of our guests have expressed interest.
It is also customary to tip guides between €10 - 20 per day.
The group should also plan to pay for her lunch
and any of her beverages along the way. Though in true Greek style,
she will object to this but that is part of the tradition so ignore her protests.
As a licensed guide, Eleni has free entry to the sites you will visit.

DEPARTING ATHENS FOR CRETE
Don't forget to book your flights to and from Nikos Kazantzakis Airport (HER) in Heraklion, Crete, for Saturday, May 2, 2026.
Book on the 10:00 am Aegean Airlines flight to arrive in Heraklion at 10:50 am.
If you plan to leave Crete on Monday, May 11th,
to catch your flight home or continue your travels from Athens,
a round-trip ticket is the most cost-effective option.
Our hotel in Heraklion is approximately a 25-minute drive from the airport.
Feel free to let me know if you need help calculating travel times!
